About Seatran Discovery High-Speed Ferries
Established in 2004 as a premium alternative to traditional roll-on/roll-off car ferries, Seatran Discovery was conceptualized by its parent group, Seatran Ferry, to elevate the island-travel experience. Backed by over a decade of maritime history and an in-house shipyard (ASIMAR) listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, the company guarantees rigorous adherence to international safety, maintenance, and engineering standards across its entire operations. The brand originally debuted with an upscale luxury yacht service to Ang Thong National Marine Park before expanding dynamically into a specialized, high-speed regional transport network.
Today, Seatran Discovery operates a modern, dedicated fleet of high-speed passenger vessels named Discovery 1 through 5, capable of reaching speeds up to 25 knots. Engineered for stability and swift travel times, these ships feature fully air-conditioned lower decks, comfortable seating, on-board kiosks, and open-air observation sections that maximize panoramic views of the Gulf of Thailand. By operating exclusively as passenger-only vessels, they offer significantly reduced transit times compared to heavy conventional vehicle ferries.
The company distinguishes itself through its optimized "Triangle Route," linking Koh Samui (Bangrak Pier), Koh Phangan (Thong Sala Pier), and Koh Tao efficiently. To complement its marine services, Seatran Discovery coordinates seamless multi-modal travel by packaging high-speed crossings with their dedicated land transit networks (Seatran Coach). This allows travelers to easily transition from major southern airports, transit hubs, and even neighboring Andaman destinations straight to their chosen holiday resort.
