Travel tips for Koh Chang - Koh Mak
- You can travel from Koh Chang to Koh Mak by speedboat or catamaran, with some services taking approximately 30–60 minutes, depending on the boat type, passenger pick-up and drop-off points, and sea conditions.
- If you are staying near White Sand Beach or Klong Prao Beach on Koh Chang, allow sufficient time to reach Bang Bao Pier or the boarding point near Kai Bae Beach, as some sections of the coastal road are winding and steep.
- Wear comfortable clothing and non-slip footwear, as boarding and disembarking from speedboats may require stepping over the edge of the boat or walking along wet pier ramps.
- Koh Mak has several popular beaches, including Ao Suan Yai and Ao Kao, which are located in different parts of the island. Check your accommodation's location before departure to arrange a suitable transfer from the pier.
- If you plan to visit Koh Kham, a small island near Koh Mak, check the available boat transfer services from the Ao Suan Yai area. Confirm visitor access and operating hours in advance.
- If you are traveling with young children or elderly passengers, check with the operator about boarding procedures and seating arrangements. Ask the crew for assistance when necessary to ensure a safe journey.
- Upon arrival on Koh Mak, you can enjoy activities such as kayaking or cycling around the island. Check where equipment rentals are available and choose a suitable time based on weather conditions.
- Some roads on Koh Mak are quiet and have limited street lighting. Plan to return to your accommodation before dark, especially if you are exploring the island by bicycle or motorcycle.
- If you are bringing electronic devices, cameras, or other water-sensitive items on board, keep them in a waterproof bag to protect them from sea spray during the journey.
- Check the boat schedules before departure, especially between May and October, as some operators suspend services between Koh Chang and Koh Mak during the monsoon season. You may need to travel via Trat mainland as an alternative.
