Travel tips for Krabi - Koh Lanta

  • If you are traveling by boat, arrive at the check-in point around 30–60 minutes before departure and double-check the pier name on your ticket, as “Krabi” can refer to several different departure areas.
  • Koh Lanta stretches quite a long distance from north to south, so check your accommodation location on a map before booking. Hotels on the same island can have very different transfer times from the arrival point, especially those farther south.
  • If you want to arrive and continue exploring easily, the northern part of the island is generally more convenient for transportation. If you prefer quieter beaches and want to stay away from busier areas, the central or southern parts of Koh Lanta may suit you better.
  • If you are prone to seasickness, choose a seat in the middle section of the boat when possible and consider taking motion sickness medication according to the recommended instructions. If you want to enjoy the scenery, choose a seat with an outside view so you do not need to move around while the boat is in motion.
  • Check the operator’s baggage allowance, size limits, and permitted number of bags so Ao Nang Travel and Tour allows up to 20 Kg. per person and attach a clear name label to your luggage. Keep your phone, cash, documents, and valuables in a carry-on bag or waterproof pouch.
  • If you plan to rent a motorbike on the island, avoid riding with a large suitcase immediately after arrival. It is more practical to leave your luggage at the hotel first and then explore, especially when traveling longer distances around the island.
  • Koh Lanta offers more than beaches. If you are staying for several nights, consider spending a day in Lanta Old Town, where you can experience traditional wooden houses, local communities, and a different side of the island from the usual beach-focused Krabi itinerary.
  • For a relaxing evening, set aside time to watch the sunset along Koh Lanta’s west coast, where several beaches stretch along the island. You can usually choose a beach close to your accommodation without needing to travel across the island just for a viewpoint.
  • During the rainy season, check both the boat service status and the activities you plan to do on Koh Lanta, as weather and sea conditions may affect marine services on the day of travel.
