Travel tips for Pattaya - Koh Kood
- It is recommended to be ready at least 30 minutes before the scheduled pick-up or departure time, especially if your booking includes hotel pick-up, as delays at the beginning of the journey may reduce the time available for your ferry connection.
- Choose a morning transfer or a service that arrives in Trat well before the ferry departure time to allow enough time for check-in and boarding without rushing.
- Check the last ferry departure to Koh Kood before planning your journey. If your transfer from Pattaya is delayed and you miss the final ferry, you may need to stay overnight in Trat and continue your journey the following day.
- Check the ferry check-in cut-off time, not only the scheduled departure time. Some operators may close check-in well before departure, and passengers arriving after the cut-off may not be allowed to board.
- During High Season, long weekends, and public holidays, it is recommended to book both the land transfer and ferry in advance, as convenient connections that allow you to reach Koh Kood within the same day may fill up quickly.
- Before your travel date, check the weather conditions, sea conditions, and ferry operator announcements, as rough seas or changing weather may cause delays, schedule changes, or temporary service suspensions for safety reasons.
- If you are travelling with luggage, check the operator’s baggage policy. If the allowance is up to 20 kg plus 1 carry-on bag per person, make sure your luggage meets the requirements and label your bags with your name or contact details.
- It is recommended to keep essential items for the ferry journey in your carry-on bag, such as your mobile phone, wallet, medication, a light jacket, tissues, and drinking water, so you do not need to access your large luggage during the trip.
- Keep your passport, mobile phone, cash, credit cards, and valuables with you at all times, especially when transferring from the vehicle to the ferry, as large luggage may be stored separately from the passenger seating area.
- As the journey takes several hours, prepare snacks, drinking water, a power bank, personal medication, and other essential items, especially when travelling with children or elderly passengers.
- If you are prone to motion sickness or seasickness, prepare suitable medication for both the road and ferry portions of the journey and take it according to the medication instructions. It is also recommended to have a light meal before boarding the ferry.
- Carry some cash with you as well. Although digital payments are widely accepted, some stops along the route, small shops, or additional services on the island may not accept cards.
- Keep your Booking Confirmation, E-ticket, ferry operator’s name, and service provider’s contact details on your phone, and save screenshots in advance in case internet access is unstable around the pier or in some areas of the island.
- If you are travelling on the same day as an important appointment, activity, or hotel check-in with a limited time window, inform your accommodation of your estimated arrival time in advance, as the actual travel time may vary depending on traffic and sea conditions.
