Travel tips for Koh Mak - Pattaya
- Before leaving the island, ask your accommodation about the check-out time and luggage transfer service to the pier. If your boat departs later in the morning or afternoon, you may be able to leave your bags at the resort and spend your final hours walking nearby or having a meal instead of carrying your luggage around.
- Arrive at the boarding point around 30–60 minutes before departure. If your resort provides transportation to the pier, confirm the departure time from the hotel the day before, as the pier may be some distance away and different boat services may use different departure points.
- Before leaving your resort, check the departure pier on Koh Mak and the arrival pier in Trat against your Booking Confirmation. This is especially important if you are arranging your own onward transport to Pattaya, as your transfer should be planned from the actual arrival pier.
- If you can choose your seat and are prone to seasickness, the middle section of the boat is generally more comfortable than the bow. Consider taking motion sickness medication according to the recommended instructions, and if you are traveling by speedboat, secure small loose items before departure.

- As this journey combines sea and road travel, do not treat the boat arrival time in Trat as the end of the journey. You will still need time to collect luggage, wait for the vehicle, and travel overland from Trat to Pattaya.
- One of the advantages of continuing to Pattaya after Koh Mak is that you can immediately change the style of your trip. Pattaya offers beaches, restaurants, shopping, family-friendly activities, and many land-based attractions, so you do not need to plan a sea excursion every day.
- When arriving in Pattaya, check that the vehicle drop-off point matches the area of your accommodation. Some services may end at a station, designated meeting point, or selected hotels only. If the drop-off point is far from your hotel, arrange your onward transportation in advance.
