Travel tips for Koh Ngai - Krabi
- As Koh Ngai does not have a road network around the island, the way you reach the departure point depends on your resort location and the service arrangement. Ask your accommodation the day before where the boat will pick you up and what time you should be ready to leave your room.
- Be ready around 30–60 minutes before departure. If you need to take a smaller local boat from the beach to connect with the main vessel, keep your luggage easy to carry and reduce the number of loose items so moving between boats is more convenient.
- If you can choose your seat and are prone to seasickness, the middle section of the boat is generally more comfortable. Consider taking motion sickness medication according to the recommended instructions, and if you choose open-air seating, try to avoid a spot exposed to direct sun or sea spray for the entire journey.
- If you have some free time before departure, use it for a final walk along the beach or enjoying the view near your resort. Avoid snorkeling or going too far away, as you may end up rushing back to shower, change, and finish packing.
- After spending time on an island with limited shops, arriving in Krabi is a good opportunity to restock personal items, do laundry, or reorganize your luggage, especially if you still have several days of travel ahead.
- If Krabi is only a stop before continuing to another province, choose your accommodation based on your next day’s travel plans. You do not always need to stay in Ao Nang; for example, staying in Krabi Town may be more convenient if your onward journey starts from the town area.
- If you have already spent several days at sea, consider making your first day in Krabi a land-based day, such as visiting a market, trying local food, or exploring a nature attraction. This gives you a break from boat travel and adds more variety to your itinerary.
- If you plan to continue traveling on the same day, choose an onward activity or transfer with a flexible schedule. Avoid bookings with a very strict start time, as island boats may make intermediate passenger stops and arrive in Krabi later than originally scheduled.
