Travel tips for Pattaya - Koh Chang

  • Be ready at the meeting point around 30–60 minutes before departure. If hotel pick-up is included, wait in the lobby before the scheduled pick-up time and confirm whether the vehicle collects you directly from your hotel or from a designated meeting point in Pattaya.
  • As the Pattaya to Trat section is a long overland journey, keep drinking water, a few snacks, personal medication, tissues, and a power bank in an easily accessible bag. Avoid placing everything you may need during the trip inside your main luggage.
  • Before booking, pay more attention to the total journey time than the ferry crossing itself. Most of the trip is by road, and you should also allow time for waiting at the pier, crossing by ferry, and continuing from the arrival pier on Koh Chang to your accommodation. It is best to treat this as a full travel day.
  • When you reach the pier in Trat, check whether you need to remove your luggage from the vehicle or continue with the same vehicle onto the ferry, as arrangements can vary between operators. Follow the staff’s instructions before boarding and stay with your group.
  • If you are prone to seasickness, consider bringing motion sickness medication for the ferry crossing. While onboard, choose a well-ventilated area or a seat around the middle section of the ferry if available, and follow the crew’s designated seating instructions.
  • If you are traveling with luggage, check the operator’s baggage allowance, size limits, and permitted number of bags so Seudamgo allows up to 20 Kg, plus 1 carry-on bag per person Keep your phone, cash, documents, and valuables in a carry-on bag, especially on services that involve vehicle changes or luggage transfers.
  • After the ferry reaches Koh Chang, you may still need to travel some distance across the island. Check whether your ticket includes a transfer to your hotel or ends at the pier, and provide the correct accommodation name, as resorts and beaches are spread across several areas of the island.
  • One of the highlights of Koh Chang is that it offers more than just sea trips. The island has beaches, waterfalls, forests, and local communities, making it suitable for a multi-night stay with time to explore inland areas rather than joining island-hopping tours every day.
  • Before leaving Pattaya, recheck the weather, ferry service status, and combined vehicle-and-ferry arrangements, especially during rainy periods. Avoid scheduling time-sensitive activities immediately after your expected arrival, as traffic, road distance, and ferry queues can all affect the total journey time.
