State Railway of Thailand is operate 12 Southern line trains from Bangkok station to Surat Thani station daily. Once you arrive at Surat Thani station, take a bus or van service to Koh Samui.
The fastest route from Bangkok city is using highway no. 35 pass through Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram province. Then use highway no. 4 until you reach Chumphon city intersection. Follow by highway no. 41 until you reach Surat Thani airport then turn left to local highway no. 417, 420, 401 then turn left to local road no. 4142. Go straight for about 30 km. to Donsak ferry pier. Take a 1 hour and 30 minutes ferry ride to Koh Samui.

Travel Inside Koh Samui
The best method to travel around Koh Samui is by renting a car or motorcycle. There are also public transportation such as local red pick-up truck and taxi. The red pick-up truck (Song Taew) is service around the island from 6:00-21:00 hrs. and it cost around 30-80 THB per way. During night time the travel fare will be double. Taxi service in Koh Samui is expensive as the price is depending on negotiation rather than using the meter.
