How to get to and travel around Phuket

            There are several transportation methods to get from Bangkok to Phuket. First of all, as Phuket has its own International Airport, you can reach there by taking a plane at Donmuang International Airport. There are over 200 Bangkok to Phuket flights a week with several major airlines. The price is approximately THB3,000 on average for return tickets (low-cost airlines). The distance from Donmuang to Phuket is around 692 kilometers, and the average flight time is about an hour. In addition to Donmuang, there are Chiangmai to Phuket flights provided, around 5 flights a day.             Secondly, buses taking you from Bangkok to Phuket are available. You can find the main bus service providers at both Mochit Bus Terminal, 3 times a day, and the Southern Bus Terminal Bangkok, 20 times a day. The average price for a bus to Phuket is THB800 (One-way). It takes 13 hours 30 minutes on average. Next, since there is no train running directly to Phuket, you can get there by taking train at Hualamphong Station to Phun Phin, Surat Thani and then catch a coach to Phuket. It may take over 16-18 hours. Thereby, this transportation method is not recommended. Alternatively, you may use car rental service with private driver that will definitely ease and comfort your trip to Phuket. Furthermore, along the way, you can drop by at any interesting destinations, such as Hua Hin and Chumphon. 

            For getting around Phuket, you can call a taxi via GrabTaxi, but it is not yet legalized. You can take a public taxi or Tuk-tuk around tourist areas. Do not forget to negotiate the fair with drivers.
