Tips

  • At Living Green Elephant Sanctuary Chiang Mai, we allow you to spend as much time as possible with the elephants. So the schedule is not strict, only approximate timings, except for designated pick-up times.
  • Book a hotel within a 5 k.m. radius of Chiang Mai’s Old City. to get free pick-up/drop-off service. 
  • Pha Dok Siew hike is of medium difficulty, suitable for those with a basic fitness level, and recommended for children above 5 years old.

We offer a free transfer service to/from all places of accommodation within a 5 k.m. radius of Chiang Mai’s Old City. Collection times may vary slightly depending on the pick-up location. 

Note:

  • We do not recommend traveling to the Living Green Elephant Sanctuary Camp on your own due to the site’s remote location and unpaved roads leading up to the site, although you could drive to the meeting point (Living Green Elephant Sanctuary office) and then contact Living Green Elephant Sanctuary directly upon your arrival. 
  • If you drive to the meeting point (Living Green Elephant Sanctuary Office), please arrive before 07.00 hrs.

Pick up from your hotel or accommodation

Drive approximately 1½ hours through a rural area where you can have a beautiful view of mountain rivers and multiple plantations.

09.15 - 10.00

Arrive at the Living Green Elephant Sanctuary to get a brief about sanctuary then change into traditional northern clothing.

10.00 - 11.15

Feed and interact with our Elephants in their natural habitat as you learn about their behavior.

11.15 - 12.00

Bathe elephants in the river (However, we don’t force them if the elephants don’t want to get into the water).

12.00 - 12.45

Enjoy a delicious local meal.

12.45 - 13.15

Drive approximately 30 minutes to Doi Inthanon National Park, immerse in nature before reaching Thailand’s highest mountain.

13.15 - 14.00

Enjoy the mist and fresh air at the highest peak of Thailand.

14.00 - 15.00

 Visit The Twin Pagodas and varieties of flowering plants at the Botanical Garden.

15.00 - 17.30

Start your hike at Pha Dok Siew nature trail where you can see wildlife and ricefields, take a refreshing dip in the waterfall then visit Karen Hill Tribe Coffee Farm.

Leave Doi Inthanon mountain and drive approximately 1½ hours back to Chiang Mai.

A: Yes, you can drive to our Living Green Elephant Sanctuary. First, book the tickets with Ticket2Attraction prior then let us know that you will be driving yourself and we would suggest a meeting point near our camp where you can follow Living Green Elephant Sanctuary staff member.

A: Yes, all ages are welcome at Living Green Elephant Sanctuary. Please note that to ensure the safety of young children, close parental supervision must be involved during the interaction with elephants.
